long hot days
that stretched before us,
counted minutes in patience,
and it was in those weary days
that I waited,
and in the wait
I could not help but wonder
just
who, exactly,
it was that grew in the waiting.
sunlit days dreaming,
and I knew you would be great,
beautiful,
soft, sweet
and just the sort of little being
who would know peace.
and in the end, I did
wait for you,
and upon knowing you for the first time
the memory of the wait dissolved away
in the
incredible moment
of realization,
you were there in the beginning;
impossible dream,
bigger than life,
old spirit returned and
so much more than the wait could have
promised.
