Yesterday was Summer Lily's birthday party -- a princess party with three friends from school. I think the girls had a great time. :)
We asked the guests to come in their favourite princess dresses, and when they arrived at the party we gave them a tiara, a pair of long gloves, princess flip-flops, and a princess wand I made from a kind of cute little butterfly potted plant stake that I tied long ribbons to. They all had fun dressing up... it was a cute sight, seeing the five little girls all dressed up, lined up along the edge of the porch putting on their flipflops and tiaras and gloves.
I made a pin-the-crown-on-the-princess game on a piece of large kraft wrapping paper, and the girls decorated little flat paper crowns to use in the game. We had pink princess punch in plastic goblets, the girls danced to Disney princess music, and we had a pinata filled with chocolates, bracelettes, rings, and a little draw-string bag of "princess jewels" so we could string necklaces. It was a bit of a rainy day, but it cleared up long enough to play outside some and we had lots of fun bubble wants and big pans of bubble solution.
One of the guests' grandmother stayed for the party as her grandaughter was a bit nervous about staying by herself. Grandma Marie is a lovely, sweet Scottish woman, and the girls adored hearing about the time she met the Queen. The girls asked lots of questions about meeting the Queen, and Grandma Marie was so sweet telling the girls all about what she was wearing and how wonderful she was, and the jewellery she was wearing.. it was almost as good as having the Queen herself here! ;)
I wish I had photos to share... not yet though, need to wait for my film to be developed and I don't know how long that will be as my photo lab called to say the lab was too hot for processing. :(
