watercolour layouts

These are layouts I did for my article on watercolour, in the August/September issue of Scrapbook Answers.

Watercolour on plastic Yupo paper; the background was crinkled by placing plastic wrap over the wet paint and the green heart was textured by sprinkling salt over the wet paint. Let paint dry overnight and remove plasic wrap/dust off salt once the paint is dry.

Stamping with watercolour. I stamped just about everything I could on this page! :) The blue swirl background, the yellow diamonds on notebook paper, the script stamp, and the letter M.

Watercolour and ink on canvas, block printing, masking for the blocks behind the title.

Here I used masking fluid to mask off the paisley shapes at the top and circles at the bottom; once the background was washed with blue I removed the masking fluid and filled in the masked shapes with ink/watercolour. The title was stamped on the tag in masking fluid and then washed overtop before removing the mask.

It does not show up well in the scan, but the green background is full of fine, sparkly iridescent medium, and the dots along the right are done in iridescent medium too.

Pale, messy watercolour wash on canvas. I painted the metal pieces with watercolour after first priming with gesso.

The background was created using a monoprinting technique with watercolour, acrylic medium, and glass plates.

How bizarre, I have a piece of paper I created months ago lying on my bedroom floor (yeah i know strange place for it but tell my 2 year old that) that is identical to the first piece you have created here. Only difference (well apart from the pattern the plastic made) is that I did mine on watercolour paper. Now I just have to use it...and you have inspired me to do so.

Sorry, can't say i have seen the article Scrapbook Answers is not readily available in Australia. Wish I could read your article though.
