March Scrapologie

Always love, love kit day -- Ranjini puts together such an amazing combination of things and no matter how the rest of my day has gone, opening that kit always fills me with inspiration! Check out the US design team girls' projects here and the international girls' projects here. Here are the projects I did with her March kit. Click on each image to see a larger version.

Brown Paper Princess. Summer Lily on the morning of her birthday party last summer, colouring in the princess I drew on kraft paper for a game of pin-the-crown-on-the-princess. I painted the chipboard pieces from the kit with acrylic paint, and sanded the edges a bit. The Making Memories tags that came with the kit were so fantastic, but the pre-printed sentiments didn't fit the photos I was using, so I whitewashed the tags and handlettered the title over top and added gold rub-ons from Hambly.

Cupcake. I love the way paint brings out the canvas-y texture of cardstock... I used gesso and acrylic paint on the background to paint it blue with a large cupcake. Another Making Memories tag for the title and wee little painted chipboard flowers stitched in place. That Addie Blue certainly does love a cupcake!

Dance. Summer Lily dancing with Paul to princess music at her princess party. I cut some of the Foofala harlequin patterned paper into paper flag pieces and used that to guide my journalling lines. The title is placed on a circle of paper I cut from an old painting of Addie Blue's -- the colours just fit perfectly!

Prep. Summer Lily and her little girl friends getting all accessorized and dressed up for the princess party. I cut circles of cardstock and layered over the kraft Making Memories paper, and added some Prima flower petals at the sides and washed with acrylic and watercolour and added some Caran d'Ache crayons. The chipboard flourishes reminded me of party streamers, so I hung some painted chipboard streamers from the top of the page and added in tags, button, ribbon, etc. The title letters are those gorgeous velvet Making Memories stickers, and I added some white rhinestones to some of the letters.

Place Where I Work. Photo of my desk and view outside into our yard. This is the place where I work. I think that is supposed to be a housey-window image on the right, and a garden-cloudscape over on the left.

Enjoy your day -- do something Scraptastic! ;)

Hi Ashley...i was trying to find an email address so that i could email you but will have to settle for leaving a long comment :o) I have admired your scrapbook pages for awhile now and love all the color that you use. I also love how you incorporate paints and gesso(i love gesso). I also adore all of your poems/journaling and wish that they were all available in a little book. It is very hard for me to journal and when i do journal it seems like i just want to write fragments or words that come to mind as to what i was feeling at the time(as opposed to full sentences) and that it why i love your style of writing. okay, i will stop the rambling now. Thanks for being such an inspiration :o)
