little stitcheries

Thinking ahead to Christmas a bit early this year, and made these little stitcheries. Each one is on a piece of felted wool, and mounted on distressed textured cardstock and framed in a wooden frame I painted and shabbied up. The frames are 4.5 inches square and the stitchery inside is just under 3 inches square -- I love working in small sized like this, because they travel well and I can work on them in stolen minutes wherever I am. :)

You don't know me, but I stumbled across your blog through other scrapbooking/crafting blogs. I love these! I will be making something similar - backing with old denim instead of cardstock because I have the denim and think it might look great in my house. Anyway, thank you for the great idea. I look forward to this project next week!

Hi Ashley! I found your blog through Marilyn Healey's blog. These are so incredibly adorable! I don't embroider; but I'm thinking I need to start immediately! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
Take care,

Oh wow-these little stitcheries are just precious!! Did you just cut up a wool sweater and felt it?? How did you attach it to the background-it looks loose around the edges so i assume it is just attached at the center??
Oh boy-my mind is spinning now-thanks for sharing!
