that head / that look October Afternoon challenge

I loved Becky's challenge on the October Afternoon blog. She called it "add a page or subtract a page" and because I usually do one page layouts, I made a second page to co-ordinate with a single page layout.

I really love the way these pages turned out! I love the idea of making a second page to go with a first page, and the way it makes a cool non-matchy-match two page spread.

Here are the two pages together:

  

I started with the page on the left hand side. I used this awesome dark woodgrain patterned paper from the 9-5 line for the background. I layered one of my all-time favourite papers, a text from Night Light, with some old book pages and music sheet paper from Sidewalks. The ink is Farmhouse Icebox, and I LOVE how opque it is. Total coverage, even on that dark patterned paper. Also used a few pieces of OA labels around the page. One of my long-time favourite things to do with labels is to cut off a portion to use on a page, and then save the other piece for another layout.

Love, love these mini market stickers. Such an awesome shade of green.

I scuffed up the edges of the text paper and layered in with some old book pages.

See how opaque that misting ink is? Awesome. One splat and you've got coverage.

And then I made this page to go along with the first. The background is another paper from 9-5

I used more old book pages, and this time used dark and light blue Sprinklers. More labels and Mini Market stickers help tie the two pages together, even though they aren't the exact same product. 

I covered this cute little chipboard speech bubble from the Sidewalks Miscellany pack with this awesome pink-on-pink polka dot paper from the 8*8 pad. The frame beneath it is cut from some OA grid printed paper, and I filled it with torn and full tags, and a Tin Pin.

Another partial label and some OA music sheet paper used on the first page are used again on the second page, to help tie the two pages together. I tore a Journalling Tag in half and used part of it under the title (see photos posted above) and the other part for journalling.
