This layout started nearly forever ago based on a Studio Calico Sunday Sketch, which in turn was based on a Lisa Truesdale layout, you. I was immediately totally inspired by the layered/nested frames, and the fun little bits like chevrons and circles floating around the bottom corner of the page. This layout came together, and then I got stuck. Got stuck on journalling. So the page sat and sat, and I started to feel pretty bad that I had this lovely photo of my beautiful girl on a page I pretty much totally loved, and I just could not think of the right thing to say.
Eventually I typed something and called it done, but it still doesn't FEEL done, to me.
To start this page I wanted to emulate the nested frames that Lisa used on her page. I used some old book pages to mask off parts of the page and used Pink Lemonade, Crepe Paper, and Pink Balloon October Afternoon Sprinklers to mist the frames onto the background. I started first with the pink and when it was dry, masked off another part and misted the yellow frames. I didn't do a very good job of completely covering the cardstock when I misted, so ended up with some spillage across the bottom and top of the page. This was a happy accident. An unplanned "oops" that ended up totally awesome in the end. Better than anything I could have done purposefully.
I am seriously still in love with these October Afternoon Mini Market stickers. I know I keep using them, and I know I keep saying how much I love them, but it's true!
Here you can see a tiny bit of the gold leaf I dripped around the page, and some of the punched confetti leftovers from the big pile of confetti I used on my page, a dual purpose gesture.
I made a coffee ring out of gold leaf, because coffee is awesome but gold coffee would be even better. I covered a Jenni Bowlin Studio chipboard star with gold airmail washi tape, and tucked it under the photo in a nest of vintage cotton thread.
I really love the fine spray of mist at the bottom of this page, and the way the gold airmail washi looks taped over the edge. This is one of my favourite ways to use this tape!
I interpreted the chevron shapes at the bottom of Lisa's page as these chevrons I cut out of some My Mind's Eye paper for another project and had left-over on my desk. The chipboard rays are also left-overs, trimmed from something I used as a mask on another project. What better way to use SCRAPS than in a SCRAPBOOK? :)
More layers of confetti leftovers!
The punched heart and the airmail stripes were also scraps on my desk. Love it when I can use up so many little pieces on a page and absolutely love the way it comes out!
The next time you're looking to fill a little space on your page, take a look to see what little bits and left-overs you have laying around! You might just find the perfect little thing.
