I was inspired to do this page by Laura's Scrap Your Stash challenge at 2Peas. She challenged us to repurpose and re-invent brads! Fun!
I started the page on a sheet of woodgrain paper, Latest, from the Crate Paper On Trend collection. Love this stylized woodgrain pattern as an alternative to the more common photo-real papers out there.
I used an old fabric brad from my stash and covered it in gold foil. Then I placed a Studio Calico kraft heart sticker over top. Yay! A cool new brad from an old one in an ugly colour that I'd likely never use. I surrounded the spiffy gold brad with smaller aged gold studs.
Unfortunately, they didn't photograph well, but the entire layout is framed with gold foil photo corners.
The title is a summary of how I feel about living across the street from my parents. After living WITH them for 11 months, when we moved out and into the house across the street that we bought, living across the street just seems TOO far away!
I added a strip of gold airmail washi tape above the title. The gold bird charm was an impulse buy at the check out counter of my LSS. I was very proud of myself when I used it that same night after I purchased it! I hung a Studio Calico wood veneer house from the bottom ring of the bird by carefully boring a hole through the wood veneer with a large paper piercing needle.
I misted a chevron pattern on the background using the mask from the JBS Mercantile December 2012 Papercrafting kit. The journalling card from the Crate Paper Acorn Avenue collection Accent Cuts sheet I used pretty much just as-is, cut straight from the sheet. Even though it is lined and can be used for journalling, I liked it as a design/decorative element.
