When I saw Celine's 213 in 2013 challenge at 2Peas, I knew it was the perfect way to use that Fancy Pants chalkboard tape I had JUST ordered and was still sitting on my desk in its packaging. I decided to combine the chalkboard look with two of my long-standing favourite trends: woodgrain, and banners.
Decided to use this photo of Ruby Sky looking at her baby colour book to record which colours she knew. She loved that book!
To create two different chalkboard looks, I covered plain cardstock with Fancy Pants chalkboard tape. I only have the 1" wide tape, so that's what I used for this page.
To create the woodgrain chalkboard, I heat embossed a woodgrain pattern on the chalkboard tape using opaque white Zing embossing powder, and then wiped a bit of white gesso over the finished piece to give it a chalkier look.
I made the banner by first cutting out a cardstock banner using my Cameo, and then covered the pieces with chalkboard tape. I dustied them up with a bit of gesso, and then hand painted the title on using a mix of gesso and hot pink mist to create a chalky looking paint.
For journalling, I just handpainted the colours she knew by sight when this photo was taken, onto some plain shipping tags.
I seriously love those cute little 2Peas star paper clips!
I loved the way the messy watercolour, ink, and mist background turned out. Wasn't sure where it was headed when I started... but just used some media and water and waited for it to dry. :)
I sprinkled around some of these super cute little sugar puffy stickers from the American Crafts My Girl collection. These stickers were one of those products that went in and out of my shopping cart a number of times over a couple of months. I finally caved and bought them.
Love getting new product on a page right away! Makes shopping seem like a justifiable necessity. ;)
