Good post Ashley! I was left wondering, what about your current system is not working for you? Is it that the pages you created are not in any theme or order?I can relate to this post - the indecision as to what direction my scrapbooking should go in. My method has always been to scrap photos at random - weave past stories into the present. I really enjoy the freedom of looking through my photo library and scrapping the photo that speaks to me most. Then Project Life, December Daily, 365-photo a day and all other chronological-based 'projects came along, and in their mass appeal I felt the peer pressure to do it their way to see if I'm missing out. Currently I'm finishing June of PL 2013. I'm 'whipping it out' just to get the year completed. There's many 'pros' and 'cons' to PL (as I've just blogged), but for me it comes down to the fact that I enjoy non-chrono scrapping and experimenting with artsy, messy techniques...No matter what 'project' I undertake, I seem to enjoy traditional scrapbooking the most. There will be no PL 2014. I'm eagerly looking forward to finishing PL 2013 and returning to scrapping random moments. I've scrapped since 2004, and finally(!) learned that I'm happiest when I do my own thing, no matter what the 'in' project is for the year.***BTW in your video, I can also relate to the disdain for page protectors (I've compared them to the appeal of plastic slip covers over sofas popularized in the 50's :) It's an ongoing quest to find a way of binding my own page protector-free layouts. I've also though of altering a binder and hole-punching the layouts. It's just that I don't want the holes to damage the page, especially if the hole falls right where a person's face is in the photo. So far, I've come up with the idea of recycling used cereal boxes. Cutting them to A4 format for the binder, using gesso to white wash them and scrapping directly on the cardboard, or glueing the completed pages on the cardboard. I'll be trying this out for sure! Keep us posted what you decide on!
You are so not alone...I often wonder too but the wondering keeps me from actually scrapping. Your LO's are great and I'm sure a solution will come to you. I'm gonna try not to wonder too much and hopefully just create more.
