using chalk on your layout + a sketch challenge:
Pudding and Tea

Hi guys,
(Sketch challenge details at the bottom!)
I'm sure, much like I do, many of you have CHALK stashed away in your scrapbook supplies. How long has it been since you've touched it? I know it has been long neglected in my stash... every now and again I find that pink box and wonder "what's in here?" and open it up to find the CHALK... The chalk I didn't know how to use, and I didn't want to part with (because I might need it some day!).

So, if you've been wondering how to use chalk on a scrapbook layout, Emily posted a fantastic tutorial on how you can do that. I was very inspired by her awesome idea, so I pulled out my chalks, a VersaMark ink pad, a VersaMark pen, and my all-time favourite Cocoa Daisy stamp, AND the April Cocoa Daisy sketch, and had a little fun.
I stamped the Cocoa Daisy confetti stamp onto scraps of gold sentiment WRMK sheer metallic vellum using VersaMark, and then applied chalk to the stamped polka dots. I used pale pink, bright pink, and navy blue. The navy smudged a bit but I actually really liked the way it looked, so left it like that. The white dots are heat embossed using the same confetti polka dot stamp from Cocoa Daisy and white ZING embossing powder (American Crafts).

I made large pink dots by drawing small circles using the VersaMark pen, and then applied bright pink chalk over top. Because chalk resists water, I was able to splash a bit of pink watercolour over the chalk dots to add a bit more colour. I think this little square with the Basic Grey Fresh Cut wood veneer cloud and the little embellishments is my favourite part of the whole page.

I clustered together several little bits on this side of the page because I wanted to leave the chalked vellum as uncovered as possible. I layered up a little leaf cut from a Cocoa Daisy cut file... and used two of the Cocoa Daisy printables that come with the kit. Other bits and pieces from my desk... flair.... chipboard stars... cork stars... and some gold confetti enamel dot coming to my store.

I love little white letter stickers. They are my fave. (Can you tell I had to use one letter from one sheet while the rest all came from the sheet I really wanted to use?)

The Cocoa Daisy sketch challenge is open to anyone and everyone until April 15th. You don't need to use Cocoa Daisy kits in your submission... just link up your creations over at the CD blog. One winner will be chosen to receive a 5$ gift certificate to Cocoa Daisy! Would be a great way to grab an awesome item from the store or maybe snag a kit for a super awesome price!

Lovely page! The chalking over the stamped image is a cool technique.
