Sketch N Scrap sketch and page!

Hi guys!
I posted earlier this month about sketch 60 on the Sketch N Scrap blog. I'm one of the prize sponsors this month. If you complete a sketch and submit it on their website, you can win this lovely scrapbook embellishment kit from my shop, Things That Shine:
This is my Celebrate Summer kit. I used bits and pieces of it, plus a few other Things That Shine on my layout.

This is the page I made:

I liked that the sketch had room for multiple photos, and I liked the layers behind the photos. I ended up using stencil and modelling paste, a tag, and some more paint and a book page for my "layers". I added a strip of lovely pink floral on navy blue washi tape across the top and bottom. For this page, I actually only used 12 inches of washi -- I cut it in half across the width (making two skinny pieces that were 12" long each) and adhered on to the top and one to the bottom. I love the way something as simple as a strip of washi tape adds a finishing touch and a bit of colour without overwhelming the rest of the page design.

I love these dark blue glittery Thickers and they were PERFECT for this page. That big cross-stitch peony patch is one of my favourite embellishments. It's part of my Celebrate Summer embellishment kit and also included in the give-away prize!

This page isn't about real snakes.. but rather the harmless sooty kind that we light off on Victoria Day or Canada Day while we are waiting for it to get dark enough to do the real fireworks. (I just realized now that I totally put the wrong date/holiday on this page. Oops.)

I added  a bit of mixed media stitched bow garland. I love the light and airy feel it adds to a page. It is included in my Happy Day embellishment kit.

Watercolour bow and fabric heart embellishment. Also part of the Happy Day kit.

I added a mint heart to a gold glitter bow. Love love love this. Pretty much all of my faves in one cute little embellishment.

I added a sparkle star to a piece of kit packaging! When you buy a kit from Things That Shine, there's a little label banner and paper seal on each one. I reused the banner and seal on this page as an embellishment.

Here's another sparkle star. A pink one this time! And here you can see the pink floral washi tape up a bit closer. I love this pattern -- it reminds me of my wonderful Great Aunt Maggie, and fun summer fashions from Forever 21 at the same time. ;)

And just one last detail. I loved the little camera icon included in the Sketch N Scrap sketch, so I heat embossed a camera (part of my Days of Summer embellishment kit) in denim ZING embossing powder. Then I added a bit of blue watercolour, so it wouldn't look too lonely.

You still have time to get your pages done and submitted on the Sketch N Scrap blog! Contest closes on July 31st.

I'm glad I can still visit your blog to see your beautiful work. I love this page. I spent at least five minutes looking at all of the little details.
