It is reveal night for the September kits from Cocoa Daisy!
Story Time is my new favourite kit! I loved it so much, I had scrap-anxiety working with it! Do you ever do that... love a kit or collection so much and think it's just so fabulous all together on it's own, that you think you'll ruin it by actually using it. Well. That's how I felt about this kit.
Fun hard work
This one is about Paul and Ruby Sky, drawing together one night between dinner time and bed time. She thinks everything we do is pretty good, but she's pretty careful to not let us get overconfident. And we think everything she says is just the best and funniest thing ever.
To make this page, I used the star background cut file from Cocoa Daisy as a stencil, and sprayed gold spray paint onto the kraft diagonal stripe patterned paper. I also used lots of other cut files for this page.... the title was made using the brush script alpha, the scribbles at the top, plus the wonky heart cut out of patterned paper. There are 6 different cut files this month, with over 25 different pieces... PLUS two backgrounds and an alphabet! All included when you subscribe to Cocoa Daisy. I make the cut files each month to go with the kits, and it's one of my favourite things to do. :)
I cut the title out of patterned paper, brushed over it with misting ink, and then stitched it on the page. There are actually two titles layered here, because after I finished the page and photographed it, I didn't think the first title cut out of yellow patterned paper had enough contrast against the background. So, I tried again. :)
I love all of the little bits and pieces in the kits this month... lots of cards, tags, labels, and frames! Awesome for layering. The little yellowy-green banner is one of the printables this month! It added just the right bit of fun unexpected colour on this page.
These scribbles by Sharmaine are a lot of fun! The cut files co-ordinate with the stamps this month. :) I love the airiness and lightness they add to a page.
Grade Four.
This is Addie Blue on her first day of grade four last year. Kept this one simple, as far as journalling goes. Stuck with the facts, because that's all that is necessary sometimes.
I love love love love love the floral paper this month -- one of the four exclusive patterns designed by Stephanie Wheeler for Cocoa Daisy. I thought the gold doily vellum (a leftover from a previous Cocoa Daisy kit) was a good match for this layout, so I folded it up and sewed it down -- definitely one of the scarier things I've ever done while scrapbooking! And then I remembered that it is just paper (even if it is AMAZING paper) and I'd figure something out if it all went horribly wrong.
I used the alphabet cut file as an embellishment/accent on this page. I like the sort of subtle tone-on-tone effect of the yellow patterned paper over the old book pages. Did you notice that the book page sticking up above the photos has a definition of the phrase "with flying colors"? It was a complete accident that it ended up there, but I thought it was very appropriate.
Love this gorgeous ribbon in the kit this month!! I layered a small tag from one of the kits and a printable tag under the bow. I made the flower embellishments with some chipboard buttons (from my kit last month) and some wire from my stash.
Love all of the nice bits this month. Labels, journalling blocks, gold vellum accents, that mint acetate alphabet. Awesome. All of it. And I do mean ALL of it.
Little bit worried.
This was one of those fast iPhone photos that I've grown to appreciate in the year since it was taken. She was sitting on my lap, and the angle is sort of wonky, but I love it. The seriousness in her face. The furrowed brow. The worried eyes. The folded fingers. I would have forgotten all of this. And what she had said -- I am not at all scared -- if I hadn't Instagrammed this right away as it happened.
The star background was the "stencil" I used for the gold stars in the layout above, "fun hard work". I layered it over the text paper in the paper add-on, and stitched around the edge.
More cut file goodness! A wonky heart added to a toothpick and a cute little bow button make a fast and easy embellishment. I layered a scribble cut behind the title.
Another wonky heart cut file! This one I backed with gold foil paper -- I had a scrap left over in my Cocoa Daisy scrap box, that I keep bits and pieces of leftover kit papers in. Love finding just the right piece when I'm working with a new kit.
For more inspiration, cool stuff, and generally just really nice stuff to look at,
