My mom made this great cake for Canada Day last year!
I made this layout to co-ordinate with the other page I made about what we did on Canada Day last year: snakes on the front walk (no, they aren't real snakes!). I wanted the two pages to look good together but not match exactly.. so I used a similar colourway that looked good between the two pages and repeated some elements like the October Afternoon mini market stickers for the titles, and the mixed media bow garland (from my Happy Day kit)
I grabbed a stack of scraps and little bits from my desk, and piled them up under the photo. Some of the little bits here are from Things That Shine kits... like Leaves are Falling, and the Pop of Red mini pack.
There was something missing, so I used the Calvinball challenge to use washi tape to make patterned paper, and added diagonal strips of washi to the white-washed corrugated cardboard. It was just what the layout needed!
This little cluster features one of my doily heart cuts, cut out as a miniature 2" across. That pretty floral fabric covered button is included in the Things That Shine Celebrate Summer kit.
The large round doilies layered behind the photo are another Things That Shine cut file: lovely paper doilies.
